James talking about sound. Summing up the sound. First scene- emphasis the calmness- birds outside. Breathing of the two characters is important. Synthesized sound, high pitch- sunlight bouncing about. Emanate in the room, emphasise the light coming in. Marcus’ room, contrast, old and creeky. Grandfather clock- might be cliché. Richard’s breathing- here is skin when he washes his face. Crackling of the needle on the record player. Park- all nature sounds exaggerated. Dog’s and children- new love, future opportunity. Experiment with synthes. Laughter sound. Doesn’t need to be synchronised? Sean Penn, flowers growing, sound. On set get the sound of laughter, alter it in post production. Mics that are on set will record rich sound. Photographs in the next scene are important, need their own sound, rustly and crackly. Photo of Mark, maybe not have a sound, new world. Mark’s leaving to go to work- the tone is rushed, still head over heels in love, she’s not angry, but its slightly hurried. Sound of car driving away is key. Record various cars, maybe BBC archive. Quicker to get sounds at the BBC. Music in the car? Phone going off, message- distraction and he crashes. Up beat music? Music in the background, whilst she’s cooking. Radio in the background? General sounds in the kitchen. Slam of door, doesn’t need to be empahsised. She’s almost cut off, by the quickness of his departure. In the car needs to hear the engine and the gears- getting faster. Similar tones, crackling of photos, needle, similar sounds, all in unison. Phone’s in the dashboard, not in front of him. Steaming radiator sound, suspension rocking. High pitch ringing when he crashes? When she finds out, hear the policeman ask her name, that sound needs to carry forth to then. Rushing sound, tinetous sound, hollow, haunting, dominant and also really intrusive. Using the real song in the beginning and the end. Scene at the crash- thinking about using distant sound of boots crunching and sirens, fade out- know he’s slipping away. While he’s in the car, distant sound, wind blowing through, blowing on the candle, sound transition- something that links the shots. Car radiator, food steaming, candles going out. Radio distant, links the scenes. Radio presenter introduces song, happy upbeat. The car crash is no-ones fault. Sounds of children laughing, James to record. Flicker of candle, steam on the car, hum of the radio, radio presenter. Hum of extractor fan. Policeman coming to the door, heard the door slam in the scenes before. Build up of tinnitus sound, or the reverse. Inaudible police radio- is quite essential, links the sound, blue light flashing over her head. She’s opening the door, long shot, see the table there, after she’s been told. As she starts feeling that loneliness, the camera draws back, exaggerating that feeling of loneliness. Dull smashes, or maybe no sound, when she’s smashing the place up. In the morning, she’s sitting up against work surface, or the wall. Hear her- drained crying- sobs. Park, no birds, wind in the trees. Emphasise the fact she’s not wearing shoes. People walking past, are they old woman, couples. Colour or light is dull, and sound is dull but people are still there. Park sounds are still there, angry dog, negative sounds, to set the tone. Richard comes along, birds start tweeting. Crunch of flowers, key sound. Pats them, Zoe guesses who they’re for. Cemetery- slight change, a bit quieter, more solitary. Private, but she feels frustration. Light wind, children disappear. Park together, intimate. Not complete harmony, and understanding. Every now and then you hear birds singing. When she shivers, sound of wind, low wind coming in? Trying to keep her warm, tea running out. When Zoe returns home, gets into bed, creaks.
Things to do- research more into instruments. Priority.
Talk with Harriet about sound motif, key tones. Triggers emotion, nostalgia.
James- needs to find out how to send some of the tunes to the back channel.
James needs to record the crackle of the record player, needle.

check out Vangelis on Wikipedia.
Transition between two locations, crash- back to kitchen, research ways of doing that.
Jame’s research into birds song, where to get the sounds, maybe buy stock sounds. What birds- keep in mind its Spring time.
Create atmos sounds.
Smoke machine.
Lights in the Cemetery, wet under foot, creating fresh feel, and also the light bouncing off the wet grass.
Park- does it need to be with a bench. Brandon Hill? Bench at the top. One bench set off, Brandon Hill.
Up near the suspension bridge, overlooks the river, can have it so its not necessarily the bridge in sight, but the gorge. Might be a flight path over it. Might be shit for sound, need to investigate further.
St Andrews park is another option.
Arnos Vale. Not much room, and very old.
Grave stone, how old is the grave going to be- she died three years ago. Maybe have to make one. Can the name change, certain date, other option is after effects the name on. Need to have a look at gravestones.
Uncrowded place, bit of space and solitude.
Bristol south, long winding road to crematorium. Lots of space.
Houses, where we can shoot, very difficult to find an appropriate location. Steph’s Grandad lives in Bristol, already an old persons house. Locations- what space and light we’ll need. One shot that is definitely needed is Richard dancing around a room.
Steph to ask her Grandad who lives in Stockwood, and ask him about his friends, whether they might allow filming in their house.
Everyone to keep it in mind- a location for Zoe and Mark.
Plates to smash.
Steph to email prop list.
Half a day at Richards. Him dancing, looking at the photograph.
Steph to show old family pictures. See is they might be appropriate.
